Lizzie asks…
has anyone had any experience washing one of those pillows with the really small Styrofoam beads?
The really squashey ones that became popular just a few years ago. The label says “wipe with damp cloth”. I would really like to put it in the washer in cold water, delicate cycle. I don’t think the styrofoam would be affected by the water. Any other experiences with these types of pillows?
Thanks! I will do that tonight!

admin answers:
With kids, I’ve HAD to wash mine. Delicate cycle, low setting in the dryer will be fine. If you try to air dry it, it will get a smell.

John asks…
anyone got instructions on how to make pillows for a sofa?
I have a sofa with pillows, but I want to put different designs on the pillows. Maybe new materials. How do I go about making new pillow covers for the pillows on the sofa. Its about 8 big pillows and two small ones.

admin answers:
This is actually not that hard. I’ve recovered a lot of sofa cushions. Most pillow covers on sofas zip off. Unzip each cover and take out the stuffing. Turn the pillow cover inside out. Then take a tape measure or ruler and measure the size of each of the pieces of fabric that are sewed together. Draw a sketch of each piece, with the measurements. Add about 1/2″ to 1″ around each edge for the sewing seam. Once you’ve got all of the pieces written down, figure out how much fabric you will need by making a diagram of all of the pieces. Most upholstery fabric is about 54″ to 60″ wide. It can be very expensive but there are a lot of discount places that sell remnants. Be sure to buy zippers in the right length or a little bit longer than the old zippers. After you buy the fabric, you can either layout the pieces to cut from the measurements on the sketches or just lay an inside out old cover on the fabric, pin it down and cut around it. Sew the zippers into the side pieces just like the original covers. Sew the tops and bottoms of the pillows to the narrow side strip piece. Be careful to make the corners line up.
If you go to a sewing and fabric store, most of the major dress pattern companies also sell patterns with instructions for making slipcovers, which can be helpful. The salespeople who work at such stores can usually help you out a lot with measuring and with instructions, too. By the way, if you get washable fabric and want to be able to launder the covers, be sure to machine wash and dry the fabric BEFORE you cut it and make the covers.

Donald asks…
Will pillows made from broadcloth look and feel okay?
I’m looking for the cheapest way to make some pillows. I found a site that sells 20 yards for $40 bucks. And they have all the colors I need. But will broadcloth look okay as a pillow? Will it feel soft? Or is it like burlap? Will it so fairly easy? Or is it hard like stretch material?

admin answers:
I think broadcloth would be great for ows. It will come with a size in it that will make it feel a little stiff, but it will be soft when you prewash it, not at all like burlap. And it’s very easy to sew. It has no stretch at all.

Helen asks…
How do I wash pillows that are probably dirty?
Yeah, I live with my Dad enough said. I was washing my bedding and was wanting to know if I can wash the pillows? My Dad said NO, but I don’t beleive that.
Thanks and I thought so

admin answers:
I throw mine in the washer all the time, dryer too… Sometimes they turn lumpy, but I don’t mind them that way.
You can also spot wash the pillow if its just a small mark. I like the way the dryer fluffs them up.
Check your pillow to see if there are washing instructions. Some fill will melt, at best see what the filler is…and if its plastic based, don’t try the drier!!

Maria asks…
Where can I get pillows that look like stones?
I know the company is called livingstone but their website is in french. The sell pillows that are small up to 6 feet long. Anybody know where I can get one? Looked all over the internet for them.

That second one is nice, but it is a little grown up! Your color scheme sounds cute, but maybe try looking for a solid colored comforter that you can accentuate with brightly colored pillows in golds and purples. (or beaded pillows!) that way if your tastes change, the comforter is not so dramatic.

Maria asks…
do these colors go for a teen bedroom?
does brown walls nd zebra bedsheets/ comforter go together? i want my walls to be a brown color(not sure what shade?) and zebra decorations! would it go? what shade of brown should i paint my room?
if this doesnt look nice what other colors should i paint my room?
would white walls and zebra decorations/comforter go? or will it be to plain?
pleasee helpp
thanks
im a girls ps!:)

admin answers:
I would say brown with blue accents would be good, and go easy on the zebra pattern. Too much of it might not be very relaxing. But blue (maybe like a grayish blue) and brown (like a milk chocolate brown) would be very nice together. And then zebra accessories. Go with brown & white zebra patterns instead of black & white ones if you can find them.

Betty asks…
can any one help me find abby cadabby fabric or blankets?

Hancock Fabrics has some Abby Cadabby flannel:

JC Penney’s just got the exclusive rights to the Abby Cadabby images and plans a line of clothing, bedding and decorative items. So you might keep an eye out there, too.

Nancy asks…
I am getting my room re-done. Any ideas for a teen girl?
So far I had in mind a dark blue and light blue theme. Dark blue carpet, white walls with stripes of the light blue, then a white comforter with dark and light blue pillows and accessories. What color furniture would I get with that? I think only white would match but my mom said it’d get too dirty. Any ideas? It doesn’t have to be the blue theme but I would like it to be two colors with white because I have a cool idea for painting the walls.

Mom’s house:
I have black ceiling/walls. On one of the biggest walls, its the paris skyline in a cool silver color, and on the ceiling, its stars in the same color. (If your not an artist like I am, there are stencils available) Anyway, So i kinda have the paris at night thing going on if you havent noticed. So i have a low, steel, bed frame with white and black paisley bedding (its like a cheap version of this.. I have some comfy beanbag chairs, a white desk with floating shelves, and some vintage posters that you can get at flea markets for about 5 dollars. Just make it your own, and it will NOT work if you do not keep it at clean.

Bedroom ideas for 16 year old girl?
hey im 16 and i want to redecorate my room. i really don’t have ANY idea what i want, so i was hoping that someone could help me.
im open to any ideas.
oh and my carpet is like green. hate it but cant change it.
thanks soo much!!
wtf???
sex question…

admin answers:
I’m 16 and have been wanting to redecorate too. My room is really bright…I have a lot of bright colors that seem a bit young, so I like these ideas. Maybe you can use them if you like them.
Vintage Room: Get the vintage going! Old-timey mirrors and a little vanity, with a bedspread that is like paisley or grown-up princess like. Check out these links: (hope they work!) I just think that victorian style rooms or stuff out of Pride and Prejudice for teens is so cute. Just get those off-whites and subtles pinks going.
http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=625795
(scroll down on the website above for a good pic)
Alright, and here is the style I am leaning towards. Oriental. Sounds a little strange, but is so easy and so cute. You know those huge chinese lanterns they have in the soft pastel colors? I saw those above one of my friend’s beds…about four of them…they were so pretty and very cute. You can get some prints of Japanese art or of those paper fans and frame them, and just make your bed have some silk that coordinates with the lanterns. This is a great way to make that carpet work too, you can have one or two green lanterns or something. Bring in a little plant or some bamboo frames and there ya go. Sounds weird, but if done right, can be gorgeous and really peaceful.

Carol asks…
I want to do a vintage bedroom, any ideas?
I love vintage and antique looking bedrooms, so if anybody knows links to help me get ideas, that would be helpful.

Paul asks…
Do you have unique bedroom ideas?
I have a huge wall that I want to decorate. I have a black/white/lime green/turquoise theme. I have a little black couch with pillows and all but I am trying to figure out some unique thing I can do with that wall. I think a small loft would be cool but I don’t have a very high ceiling. Any ideas?

admin answers:
You could paint a mural. Use a projector and a transparency to project an image onto the wall and then trace it onto the wall and then paint it.

Helen asks…
What are some good bedroom decoration ideas?
I am 13 years old and my mum is renting a house. It is a really old house so i cant paint my walls.
I have cream walls and I share a room with my step sister that stays every weekend.
I was wondering is you could help me with ideas, like post pictures and stuff
oh and please… no pink
And what are some good colours that go with cream… thank you for your help

Put posters on the walls of your favorite singer.
Maybe get light blue or light purple curtains on the walls.
Maybe put a rug on the floor if there is no carpet or you don’t like the carpet.
Maybe put a Beanbag in your room

Good space saving teen male bedroom ideas?
I really want to make my room look nicer but i haven’t got a lot of space and I’m shit poor right now. I did some number crunching and I found some stuff I want but it ended up about 490 quid. I have about 20. I’m a boy btw but I like purple if that helps
. Please some ideas, or maybe places I can get a sofa and a hi sleeper cabin bed cheaply? Cheers!
Nat.

admin answers:
I suggest floating shelves or to make them yourself purchase plywood and thumbtacks to hold them up.
Buy purple fabric on clearance for purple slipcovers or curtains. Nobody will be the wiser if there is a second hand sofa underneath. Shop thrift stores for furniture or there is a freecycle.com on the internet where people willingly give away items for the taking. You can also post your wanted items. Ha~ha! Paint the shelves purple using acrylic household paint. It is soldin walmart for 1.39 or less for a couple of ounces. If it needs an update, you can ‘fine~tune it’ very easily. If you have money left over, you can paint your room a coordinating color. (I suggest light/medium gray because purple and grey are so masculine, at least to me.

Help what can I do to my blanket?
Ok lastnite I felt sick I ended up throwing up on my 200.00 blanket its one of those big thick ones so when you put it in the washer that fills it up. Anyways I put it in the washer to times to far & the vomit isn’t coming off the blanket & the smell isn’t.Help I used alot of detergant too.
it’s mostly black w/ a wolf on it

admin answers:
You can try washing it again and putting baking soda in with the soap about a half of a box and the smell will come out. For the stain if its white you can bleach the stain if not you could try hydrogen peroxide, but it might discolor the fabric.

Lizzie asks…
My sister’s 10 month old car keep peeing in little spots?
My sister’s kitten is litter trained but lately we’ve been catching him urinate in odd places. But the pee’s been just spots here and there. We caught him in the fireplace popping a squat and leave just a small spot, on my throw blanket…twice. Is it UTI or is he mad at us or something? Litters fully cleaned and the water dispensers full….please help
i forgot to mention that he is spayed already..

admin answers:
Urinating outside the litter box is often a sign of a urinary tract infection. If left untreated, it can get bad very quickly and kill the cat. You would be wise to take him to the vet, where they can give him an exam to see if he has a UTI. It is caused by ingredients in their food, mainly magesium and ash, that they don’t really need. The UTI causes crystals to form in their urine, which scratch and irritate the lining of the bladder and urethra. The body responds by coating the lining with a sludge-like substance, that can quickly build up, and if it completely blocks the urethra, the cat will die very quickly. There are special foods in the pet store made for cats with urinary tract health in mind. Get into the habit of reading labels and dont buy anything with magnesium or ash in the ingredients.
Un-neutered males will spray urine to mark their territory. Sometimes male cats who have been fixed will continue to spray after being neutered. This is not true of all cats, but sometimes ones who were fixed after they were allowed to grow into the habit of spray marking, will continue to do so. If you suspect your boy kitty of still spray-marking after being fixed, you can try to curb this habit by using a special spray called Feliway. It is a substance that is similar to cat facial pheremone scents. When cats rub their faces on things, it is a “happy” sort of marking, and the scent it leaves relaxes them and other cats, and they will not urine-mark on the same spots as where there are facial pheremone marks. Feliway is somewhat expensive, but does work pretty good. I’ve linked a site below for you to check it out, if you want.
Remember that cats noses are far more sensitive than ours, so if your cat has peed somewhere he shouldn’t have, and even if you cleaned it up really well, he still may be able to smell traces of his pee there and think its OK to keep using that spot. To clean urine spots, thoroughly soak the area with plain white vinegar. Let the vinegar dry on the area. If it is on the rug, place layers of paper towel or newspapers on top of the vinegar, and put something heavy on top of it, like books (be sure to protect your books from moisture by wrapping them in a plastic bag). Leave the books on the spot till it dries. The acid pH of the vinegar will counterbalance the alkaline pH of the urine, thus killing the smell for good, and it should prevent kitty from peeing there ever again. This really works, I have used it for years.
Good luck, I hope this helped =^.^=

Ways to arrange 8 different squares?
I bought 2 packs of fabric squares. They both have the same 4 different designs in them except on pack is blue, black, and white and the other is pink, black, and white. Any ideas on how I could arrange them? I plan on making a dog bed or perhaps a throw blanket with them.
Maybe I could buy a plain black a white fabric to use with is if there is no combinations?
Thanks for the help!

admin answers:
If you want to know the number of combinations that 8 different items can be arranged you simply multiply as follows.
8*7*6*5*4*3*2*1
So there’s 40,320 different ways to arrange the patches.

How to make a cooler out of a fleece blanket?
So I bought a fleece blanket that I am using for my horses Halloween costume. But after Halloween I wanted to keep it to use as a cooler, just to throw on after a ride to cool her out or while I am riding.
How should I make it? I was thinking of putting some velcro straps on the front, and maybe a single belly strap. What can I make the belly strap out of? Any ideas where I can buy the materials?
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

admin answers:
You could probably find a pattern that would give you an idea how to make it. If your just using it as a cooler you should be fine with one or two straps on the chest and one maybe two belly straps. I would use elastic for the straps you could probably even find buckles similar to what they use on ones for sale. As for a place to find materials I think any craft store would carry the supplies you need.
Good Luck hope it works good for you.
I found these patterns after a quick search
http://www.seattlefabrics.com/suitability.html#S7900%20Horse%20Blanket,%20Sheet,%20and%20Cooler
If you really want it to be good you could buy repair kits for blankets and use those parts on your blanket.

Charles asks…
Where would I find a Ft. Bragg blanket?
I’m looking for a throw blanket that has something to do with Ft. Bragg on it. I’ve checked eBay and the local PX. Any other ideas?

admin answers:
I thought this would be something easy to find, but as you know, it’s not.
Spouses of Ft. Bragg’s soldiers started something called Operation Kid Comfort. They use photo quilt blocks and make a quilt.
You might want to take photos and have someone transfer them onto fabric.
Type “quilt soldiers” in ebay and flag/soldier quilt blocks will appear.
You (or someone) can either make it into a quilt or sew the bottom and sides to a flannel sheet for a duvet type of blanket.

My friend has been jumping on his bed for 4 hours without stopping, should this be cause for concern?
He isn’t talking, his eyes are closed, but he is smiling.
He has a sock on one ear. The sock is purple.
I have tried throwing pillows at him, it hasn’t seemed to work.
Please help! It’s scaring me!

admin answers:
Buy a pistol of any sort, preferably a Desert Eagle, or 44. Magnum. Shoot him in the left shoulder, and once he falls to the ground in agony, stuff the sock in his right ear while shouting the Star Spangled Banner. Once you have accomplished this task, perform CPR on his left leg. Next, cut off his right leg, and yours, and switch them. While it may be painful, it should fix your problem. After you’re done with this, you’re gonna want to shove anchovies into his belly button, and make sure you’ve swallowed and regurgitated them before you do this. Make him stand up, punch him in the left cheek twice, right cheek thirty two times, and knee his gut eight times. After this, put him back on his bed, and remove the bullet from his shoulder with tweezers, and make him swallow it. Run him over with a car, three times. Then, he should be back to normal. This has an 89% success rate with other people that have tried it.

Will stacking my pillows high enough stop my teeth from grinding?
I had about 4 pillows so that way my teeth cannot grind together because gravity will pull it down or something. Is this a good way to stop it from grinding? I woke up and my jaw still feels sore….

admin answers:
No, I’m sorry to say that using extra pillows doesn’t usually help. : (
Your best bet would be to see dentist who can make a nightguard for you to wear over your teeth while you sleep.
I’m enclosing a link below that can give more information about this.

Michael asks…
Is it normal for a 15 year old girl to hump a pillow 3-4 times a day? :/?
I’m not sure why, but I’m always having the urge to have sex, so obviously being underage, I’ve been humping a pillow. However, mainly at weekends, I’m humping a pillow a lot. I love the feeling I get, but I’m not sure if it is normal. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp?!

admin answers:
Actually yes, it is very normal.
I have met about 10+ girls and even guys who have done this for sexual pleasure.
I know this mainly because i used to do it as well as my best friend. But i find masturbating really helps. If you masturbate while moving ur hips like a thrusting movement, it gives you so much more sexual pleasure.
Best of luck

What size Uhaul do I need?
Gonna be moving From Jacksonville FL to Yuma AZ here in April. I am trying to figure out what size Uhaul trailer I would need to fit the following items.
- 2 queen size mattresses (mattresses only)
- washer and dryer (top load washer)
- microwave
- 2 pots and 2 pans
- a few utensils
- 4 pillows and 2 blankets
I called Uhaul and they suggest the largest trailer they have which is a 6×12 which seems to me to be far to large for the few things I am trying to move myself.

admin answers:
Go with UHAUL’S suggestion. If it seems too large, don’t worry about it. You don’t have a lot of stuff but you don’t want to risk getting a smaller one and it being too small.

admin answers:
Paper
Scrunch up some A4 sheets of paper into loose balls that can fit between your two hands (5-6 inch in diameter). Sellotape the egg to one of the balls of paper (so that it does not move) and then surround this ball with several other balls of paper and sellotape the whole thing.Make sure that the paper is not scrunched up too tight, the should be plenty of air gaps and loose folds to slowly absorb the energy of the impact.
